  3. ======================
  4. To make a contribution to a TianoCore project, follow these steps.
  5. 1. Create a change description in the format specified below to
  6. use in the source control commit log.
  7. 2. Your commit message must include your "Signed-off-by" signature,
  8. and "Contributed-under" message.
  9. 3. Your "Contributed-under" message explicitly states that the
  10. contribution is made under the terms of the specified
  11. contribution agreement. Your "Contributed-under" message
  12. must include the name of contribution agreement and version.
  13. For example: Contributed-under: TianoCore Contribution Agreement 1.1
  14. The "TianoCore Contribution Agreement" is included below in
  15. this document.
  16. 4. Submit your code to the TianoCore project using the process
  17. that the project documents on its web page. If the process is
  18. not documented, then submit the code on development email list
  19. for the project.
  20. 5. It is preferred that contributions are submitted using the same
  21. copyright license as the base project. When that is not possible,
  22. then contributions using the following licenses can be accepted:
  23. * BSD (2-clause): http://opensource.org/licenses/BSD-2-Clause
  24. * BSD (3-clause): http://opensource.org/licenses/BSD-3-Clause
  25. * MIT: http://opensource.org/licenses/MIT
  26. * Python-2.0: http://opensource.org/licenses/Python-2.0
  27. * Zlib: http://opensource.org/licenses/Zlib
  28. For documentation:
  29. * FreeBSD Documentation License
  30. https://www.freebsd.org/copyright/freebsd-doc-license.html
  31. Contributions of code put into the public domain can also be
  32. accepted.
  33. Contributions using other licenses might be accepted, but further
  34. review will be required.
  35. =====================================================
  36. = Change Description / Commit Message / Patch Email =
  37. =====================================================
  38. Your change description should use the standard format for a
  39. commit message, and must include your "Signed-off-by" signature
  40. and the "Contributed-under" message.
  41. == Sample Change Description / Commit Message =
  42. === Start of sample patch email message ===
  43. From: Contributor Name <contributor@example.com>
  44. Subject: [Repository/Branch PATCH] Module: Brief-single-line-summary
  45. Full-commit-message
  46. Contributed-under: TianoCore Contribution Agreement 1.1
  47. Signed-off-by: Contributor Name <contributor@example.com>
  48. ---
  49. An extra message for the patch email which will not be considered part
  50. of the commit message can be added here.
  51. Patch content inline or attached
  52. === End of sample patch email message ===
  53. === Notes for sample patch email ===
  54. * The first line of commit message is taken from the email's subject
  55. line following [Repository/Branch PATCH]. The remaining portion of the
  56. commit message is the email's content until the '---' line.
  57. * git format-patch is one way to create this format
