  19. kvm-unit-tests is a project as old as KVM. As its name
  20. suggests, it's purpose is to provide unit tests for KVM. The
  21. unit tests are tiny guest operating systems that generally
  22. execute only tens of lines of C and assembler test code in
  23. order to obtain its PASS/FAIL result. Unit tests provide KVM
  24. and virt hardware functional testing by targeting the
  25. features through minimal implementations of their use per
  26. the hardware specification. The simplicity of unit tests
  27. make them easy to verify they are correct, easy to maintain,
  28. and easy to use in timing measurements. Unit tests are also
  29. often used for quick and dirty bug reproducers. The
  30. reproducers may then be kept as regression tests. It's
  31. strongly encouraged that patches implementing new KVM
  32. features are submitted with accompanying unit tests.
