The GCC4TI's Icon Contest

The GCC4TI Team is working to make it the best toolchain for the TI-68k platform. But currently, we don't have a beautiful icon. So, if you've been sitting around wondering what you could do to help the GCC4TI Project, even though you have no programming skills (or even if you haven't been wondering that :-) ), here's your chance to get involved. See below for full contest information.

Rules

If you don't follow the all the rules your entry will be disqualified.

  1. There is no time limit for the contest, but the faster you will submit an entry, the higher the chance your submission is selected will be :)
  2. All entries must be the original artwork of the contestant(s), except when other material is used with permission and fits within the rules of this contest. For example, all images licensed under the GNU GPL are OK to use in your icons.
  3. Individual contestants are limited to a single entry. A contestant, however, may participate in multiple teams. Likewise, any team is limited to a single entry.
  4. Submissions must contain all of the following icons:
    1. Mandatory icons
      • GCC4TI main icon (it will be the project logo)
      • GCC4TI IDE Icon (it should be different enough from the GCC4TI main icon/logo)
    2. Optional icons
      • Icons for .c and .h files
      • Icons for the calculator files (.89? .9x? .v2? files)
      • Icon for the TPR build file
      • Icons for the IDE toolbar
  1. All entries must be submitted as .png file with transparency. All icons must include a 512 by 512 pixel version and include also include a 32 by 32 pixel version. You are encouraged to provide a 512x512, 256x256, 128x128, 32x32 and a 16x16 version, the more there are the better the icon will look on different OSs. Not providing 256x256, 128x128 and 16x16 version is not a reason for disqualification.
  2. Contestants agree to have their entries posted on this Web page until up to 10 days after the contest ends. After such time all icons will come down and we will delete all entries except for the winner's.
  3. Contestants must agree that their icons will, upon winning, become copyright of the GCC4TI Project. The GCC4TI Project will relicense them under the GNU GPL, or a similar license such as CC. The winner retains credit for his/their work, and will of course still be able to use and distribute the icons under the terms of the license he/she/they selected (which is pretty much whatever you'd like), but we have to own the copyright to avoid legal complications down the road.
  4. The winner may be asked, though not required, to provide future icons for the GCC4TI Project. If the winner does not wish to help us in the future with icons, we will at least request, though not require, that he/she/they send us his original artwork files (i.e. the file created with an image editor of your choice, that was later turned into an icon).
  5. Judging will be done by the founders of the GCC4TI project. If they have difficulty for choosing, they may solicit opinions from developers and users, however it is still their decision. All judging decisions are final.

Hints

We're after professional looking icon. We are not looking for excessively cool icons, but they should look good with all Operating System (Including MacOS X, Windows and Linux).

You will find here some templates for the different icon sizes :

Prizes

We currently have nothing to give the winner other than a pat on the back (if we ever get in close enough physical proximity) and lots of fame and glory for their hard work. Winning our contest is something that can go on a resume or in a portfolio. If you would like to donate a prize that we can give to the winner, contact the GCC4TI mailing list. Supplying a prize, of course, means you get your name and logo displayed on this page with a link.

Submissions

If you think you have what it takes, e-mail your icons to the GCC4TI mailing list and we'll post them below.

Further Information
